Choosing which country to study abroad in is a big decision, especially when you have a whole world of options available to you (literally)! Every place provides its own unique characteristics and unforgettable experiences, and the choices can become overwhelming. However, the fact that you have arrived at spiible.com tells me that you are considering Australia. So congratulations! You are now looking into (what I think is) one of the best countries in the world. To help with this decision-making, I present to you my 8 reasons to study in Australia!
1. World Renowned Institutions
Australia has some of the world’s best tertiary institutions. The nation is ranked 9th in the global Higher Education Systems Ranking, sitting above countries such as Singapore, Norway, Hong Kong and New Zealand. In fact, eight of the 100 top universities worldwide are located in Australia, including The Australia National University, The University of Melbourne, and The University of Sydney. Not to mention the great vocational courses and English schools Australia has to offer; there is a reason students come from all over the world to study here.
2. Improve your English Skills
Australians love to talk! Once we notice you are not from here, we will want to get to know you and hear your story. Simply talking to us will give you the best opportunity to improve your language skills. In fact, Australia is the third most popular destination to learn English, despite having a population of only 23 million.
3. Best Sport in the World (I think!)
Ask any Australian and we will tell you how much we love sport! Whether it is cricket, soccer, or our own Aussie Rules football (aptly named ‘footy’), we don’t care; we’ll get into it. It’s an Aussie pastime spend a day on the weekend dressed up in your team’s colours, drink in hand, surrounded by mates, cheering on your favourite team. There’s no better Saturday, if you ask me.
4. Easy-Going Aussies
We Aussies are a laid-back bunch. We love nothing more than to go out for a couple drinks, meet up with old mates and even make some new ones. If you do get a chance to come visit us, rest assured, you’d be welcomed in and acting like a local in no time!
5. Best Beaches in the World
With a country that is literally surrounded by beaches, you know that they are going to be pretty amazing. Whether you love surfing the perfect breaks, swimming with colourful tropical fish, or (much like me), relaxing under the sun on the pure white sand, you can have the perfect summer’s day at the beach.
6. Travel! Travel! Travel!
Australia has so many different hidden gems for you to explore in your off time. You can be relaxing a sun-drenched beach one day, explore a rain forest the next, then end the weekend with a drive across the country, trying to spot the kangaroos. You will never be out of places to travel to; I still haven’t seen everything I would like!
7. A Whole Lot of Fun
If you ask me, any one of the cities in Australia is the perfect playground for students. With so many amazing places to eat, drink and be entertained (and some incredibly social and welcoming Aussies to go with it!), you will always find some fun to take your mind off your work.
