Australia or Canada? Both are large countries with beautiful landscape, with possibly the kindest, most welcoming people of anywhere in the world. So how do you choose between the two? Maybe I’m a bit biased towards Australia, having lived here for much of my life. But after spending some time studying and working around north America, I picked up on a some differences that bring me back to Australia.
If you are anything like me, you love warm weather—wearing t-shirts, spending time outside, relaxing on the beach (bring on the weekend!). Therefore, I like to consider myself an expert on all things warm! So believe me when I say, if you too love the sun and warm weather all year round, come to Australia. However, if you prefer covering yourself in layer upon layer of clothing, so you can make it to school in the snow (definitely not me), then maybe Canada is for you!
Beautifully diverse landscape
Much like Australia, Canada has beautiful landscapes (like something straight out of Google Images). Australia, however, has both beautiful and diverse natural landscapes. You can spend a day hiking the trails of a rainforest, another day soaking up the sun on a beach, then drive through the outback while trying to spot kangaroos! Your Instagram friends won’t believe you never left Australia!
People from all ends of the world call Australia home. While Canada is a very multicultural nation as well, Australia has a cultural diversity unlike anywhere else I have ever seen. On a single day out, you can make friends who have come from all over the world. Why have they all decided to stay? Because we Australians are so welcoming of, and dare I say fascinated by, people from other cultures.
When trying to decide what country to study in, of course you must do your research! Compare schools, compare cost of living, all those important things. But when deciding between two countries as similar as Australia and Canada, spend some time looking at the elements, like those above, that will give you a fun and unforgettable experience abroad.
