Take Control of your Time in Australia

One of the most common sources of stress is the feeling that there is too much to do and not enough time to do it. The truth is, we all have 24 hours a day. So, what is it that you need to consider in order to get things done with the time that you have available?

Firstly, it is important that you notice how you are spending your time. Start with writing down everything you do in a week, this will give you a clear map about how much time you are using to work, to study, to watch tv or to work out. An improved time management technique requires an accurate understanding of your current habits in order to find those extra hours that you need.

It is also imperative that you set up your professionals and personal goals. What do you want to have as a result of the actions that you are taking? Do you want to have a certain financial target, a health target, a relationship target? Think about what you really want to achieve, imagine your life in twelve months from now on, what are the biggest outcomes and results that you want.

Next, think about who you are, what is important for you? What behaviours you need to adopt to get the results that you’re looking for? To get those results, what limiting beliefs you need to let go, what things you need to change in your mindset that will help you to move closer to your goals. Most people just focus on what they want, and what usually happens then is that their actions and strategies become unsustainable. The change must be outside and inside.

After mapping your time, setting your goals and being aware of who you are, it is time to figure out what you need to do to reach those goals. Plan your days and your weeks in advance. Some experts in time management highly recommend Friday afternoons for schedule planning. Tony Robbins says, “The only way to truly master your time is to organize your schedule each day to spend the majority of it doing things that are important rather than urgent”.

Remember that you have 168 hours every week, and a week is the cycle of life as we live it. So, give yourself permission to explore your time, to wonder what you really want and who you need to be in order to achieve that goal. Take the time to plan your actions, to think about your behaviours and new rituals that will help you to get the great results that you want.

Again, picture your life in a year from now; think that you have had the very best year of your life. Ask yourself: who are you now, what are you doing, what do you have?

“We have time enough if we will but use it right.” Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe.
